Culture

Culture is what it feels like to be a member of our school community. Every individual, students and staff contribute to our culture every day. Culture is what people who visit our school would see, hear and experience and what they would tell others about our school. Our culture is very important to us.

We are very proud of our culture as it is one of:

  • opportunity for all
  • high expectations and aspirations of everyone
  • successful young people and professionals
  • achievement and continued development for all
  • respect and tolerance for others

Our students are given a wealth of opportunities to thrive in our school, both in the classroom and through a wide range of other activities such as, but not limited to those below:

In order to provide such an extensive curriculum and wider offer, our students follow some tight routines in what we do and how we do them. These provide structure and a climate in which every young person can achieve and where each adult can do their job to the very best of their ability. Listed below are key documents that outline a number of key things that we ask all students to follow and the reasons why. We encourage all students and parents to read these together:

  • Student behaviour and routines - expectations on how students do things in a wide range of activities and most importantly the reasons why. We also have a version of this document for staff to follow in their own work

Student phones in school

Students in Y7-11 are not permitted to use their phones in school without staff permission - our approach is detailed here.
