School Ethos & Values
We believe passionately about our students feeling a sense of belonging to The Carlton Academy community. Their time with us is an important, formative part of their lives, setting them up for whatever the next steps are for them once they leave us. We work hard to ensure that students feel proud of being a Carlton Academy student and all that that entails.
As part of the Redhill Academy Trust, we passionately believe that our mission is:
Working together to help all our students achieve their best, now and in the future.
This is underpinned by five key principles:
- High Expectations
- Academic Achievement
- Widening Experiences
- Outstanding Teaching
- Equality and Diversity
High Expectations
We hold high expectations of all students around their effort, ambition, behaviour and success. Our expectations around having a positive learning environment are clear and non-negotiable. Equally, we reward persistently-met high expectations through a range of methods.
Academic Achievement
We value academic achievements highly as these are the keys to our students' next steps. Stretch and support is offered to ensure that our students achieve the best they possibly can.
Widening Experiences
School-life goes beyond the taught curriculum, as we know that one of the core purposes of education is to develop cultural capital. This is why our C+ offer, range of trips and visits and wider curriculum offer through PSHE is a prominent feature of each student's time with us.
Outstanding Teaching
The means of reaching academic success is through high quality teaching experiences. Staff receive regular CPD to ensure that they are kept up-to-date with the latest pedagogy and subject-specific developments. This is often done through the Redhill College of Leadership and Development.
Equality and Diversity
Diversity is celebrated and students are made to feel welcome no matter their background. Being part of our diverse school community helps to prepare students for the diverse world beyond our gates.
Ultimately, our aim is to ensure that all of our students thrive within our community and are happy, successful, well-rounded young adults when they leave us.
