Students celebrate excellent A-level results
Sixth Form students from The Carlton Academy, part of the Redhill Academy Trust, are celebrating excellent A-level results with 19% of grades secured at A* to A and almost 50% being A* to B.
This year sees more than 70 students progressing onto university, with a significant number heading to Russell Group Universities, whilst others have successfully gained apprenticeships.
Head of Sixth Form, Ms Amy Jennings, said: “These excellent results reflect the exceptional dedication and hard work demonstrated by our students over many years. Their commitment, enthusiasm and resilience have been remarkable, and it has been a privilege to support the Class of 2026 as they have grown into mature, independent and ambitious young people. We congratulate every student on their individual accomplishments and are immensely proud of their success. Their achievements are a fitting reward for their efforts and a clear indication of the bright futures that await them. We wish them continued success and happiness in the next stage of their education, training or careers.”
Mr Gary Hillyard, Head of School at The Carlton Academy said “I am tremendously proud of our Year 13 students. They worked with such commitment and dedication which has resulted in an excellent set of results to help them onto the next stages of their lives. This year we have our first student successful in their application to Medical School. The whole year group has very bright futures ahead of them.”
With many Carlton students now heading to universities across the country, the selection of subjects being studied is vast, ranging from Medicine, Hispanic Studies, History, Computer Science and Criminology, to Biochemistry, Nursing, Physics and Maths, Physiotherapy, Law, Fine Art, Aerospace Engineering and Environmental Science.
Taran Blockley has ended his seven years at The Carlton Academy with tremendous success; he achieved A* grades in Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Physics and A grade in Computer Science and will now go onto study Mathematics. Other successes included Azan Ahmed, Head Boy who achieved A* grade in Urdu and A grades in Biology, Chemistry and Fine Art has secured a place at the University of Nottingham studying Medicine. Azan said "The teachers have been incredibly supportive and motivating throughout my time in sixth form. The level of support has been unmatched, and the staff work tirelessly to help students succeed. They are always welcoming, approachable, and genuinely care about every student's progress". Joe Donald also achieved A grades in Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics, and will be studying Chemistry at the University of Birmingham.
Noor Ahmed, Head Girl, achieved A* grade in Sociology, an A grade in History and a B grade in English Literature will be going on to the University of Warwick to study History. She said: "I would like to say a huge thank you to all the staff for their incredible hard work, dedication, and support throughout my time in sixth form. Their outstanding teaching, encouragement, and willingness to go the extra mile have helped me achieve results that I am truly proud of".
Eva Pengelley, who achieved an A* in Geography and Sociology and an A grade in English Language, will be studying Geography at the University of Sheffield.
Noah Gamba who achieved an A* in Maths and Further Maths and an A grade in Physics and B in Computer Science, has secured a place at the University of Loughborough to study Aeronautical engineering.
Other destinations include Max Bradbury who is going to study International History and Politics at the University of Leeds along with Sylvie Brett who will study Law.
