This page contains further information about our school, the curriculum and everything else you may wish to know before you start with us. We encourage you to read this carefully with your child.

Letter to Year 6 Parents - further information will be sent home shortly in respect of transition information

May 2020

Dear Parent

Students in Year 6 joining us in September 2020

I hope that this letter finds you and your families well. I am sending this as an update in relation to supporting transition arrangements into our school for your child. As I am sure you are aware, there are many possible changes and limitations at present, we are doing all that we can to ensure that you and your child have the best possible transition experience.

In normal circumstances, we would invite you to a meet the tutor evening, which would be held on the evening of the induction day in July. During the induction day, students experience a full day in school and find out answers to any questions that they may have. Then, later in the day, parents and children meet their new form tutor and we find out more about your child. As this time, we do not believe that it will be possible to hold an induction day in school before the end of the summer term and we are not yet clear if it is possible to hold any parent event at all.

Over the course of the next few weeks, we will be given guidance on what can and cannot happen in regards to meeting you and your child. We will communicate information about our school via email and text messages, this can also be found on our website: www.theacademycarlton.org.uk and on our Twitter Feed @Carlton_Academy.

When we have further information, we will be in touch with you as soon as we can. Please be reassured that despite the restrictions placed upon us all at this time, we are working with our feeder schools as closely as ever. I also wish to reassure you that, as soon as we are able, we will be providing you with a chance to meet your child’s form tutor, hopefully in person on the school site, whether this can be done before September, or as soon as possible after the start of term we will find out in due course.

We very much look forward to meeting with you and your child. We are very excited about their journey with us over the next seven years and seeing them take advantage of the extensive range of opportunities that are on offer at our school.

With very best wishes to you and your family.

Yours sincerely

Richard Pierpont
