Class Charts and contacting school

We encourage parents to make effective use of ICT tools to aid sustainable communication. In order to do this, from September 2022, we are using a product called Class Charts for the majority of our communication with familes. You can see a parent guide about Class Charts from here.

Class Charts is available as an App for both parents and students - you can download the App from the link here from where you need to choose either Student or Parent and download the correct App. We ask you to ensure that you have notifications for Class Charts turned on at all times in order to see notifcations from school that you can read and help support with where needed.

SMS and EMails

We will always need to use SMS alerts and emails for some contact with home, for example when publishing reports about progress or a high profile message that has to be sent by SMS to ensure it is seen quickly. We will continue to use SMS messaging for contacting you about absence in school, to which you can directly reply to as an SMS also.

It is always important that we have got your correct contact details. If you need to update your contact details as you have changed your phone number or email address, please call the school on 0115 9550010 as soon as possible and ask to speak to our student records administrator.

School Gateway

From Setpember 2022, we no longer use School Gateway and all functionalty has been taken over by Class Charts. Please delete your School Gateway App.

ICT Support

If you have issues logging into class charts then our ICT team are here to help and can be contacted at ICTrequests@theacademycarlton.org

Please be aware that they can and will only contact parents using the email address that we have registered for you on our school system and will need to confirm some security questions before helping you.

If you contact them, please ensure that you are using the email address we have got for you and that you confirm the name of you child in school, their date of birth and your full name and address. This will then be checked against our records before a reply to your query is sent.

Cannot access App on a device and need help?

If you cannot access Apps on any device at home either through WIFI or mobile data, please contact Robert Linthwaite, Operations Manager at the school – r.linthwaite@theacademycarlton.org
